Thalassaemia and AIDS Prevention Society is a registered NGO Since 1991, Registered Under Society Act. Regd. No. S/84607. Our NGO Empanelled NGO of State Thalassaemia Control Programme Member of West Bengal State Thalassemia Core Committee, and Associated with West Bengal State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, Health and Family Welfare Department Govt. of West Bengal. Our NGO have tried to reducing the burden of HIV/AIDS & Thalassaemia and its stigma, panic and discrimination by practising what we preach that is functioning as a group of people living with HIV/AIDS and Thalassaemia and their friends that works in hand to hand to serve as a major force for social change.
Red Ribbon Cup T-20 Cricket :
For the first time in the world HIV/AIDS affected persons participated and played in the cricket match for the Eradication of Stigma and Panic on HIV/AIDS, also Prevention and Awareness Generation of HIV/AIDS. This Match played between Eminent Cricketer , Celebrity, Film Stars and District Level Club Teams. This Sports meet will be organised every year in different corner of the State of West Bengal. Eminent Personalities grace this event to establish a philanthropic relation among the HIV/AIDS affected and the Common mass and to bring the affected people in the mainstream and provide them healthy and dignify life.
Programme for Thalassemia :
Our NGO arranged for a more effective Awareness Campaign and Survey Programme on Prevention of Thalassemia, Firstly, through Screening and Counselling of Family Members and Relatives of Thalassemic patients and Secondly, Screening and Counselling of Pregnant Women and their Husband. This programme will be Include Advocacy, Awareness and Carrier Detection.
We organise mass awareness generation programme on HIV/AIDS and Thalassaemia Organise Scientific Seminar, Rally, Street Drama, Video shows, Debate, Exhibition, Press meet, Art Competition and Workshops of every corner of West Bengal and provide Ambulance Service.
Organise voluntary Blood Donation Camps and Thalassaemia Carrier Detection Camp.
We run a Charitable Care and Support Unit to benefit the HIV/AIDS and Thalssaemia affected. We provide Free of cost by supplying them Blood, Helping in performing various Clinical Examinations and even Spleen Operation are arranged also supply them Medicine free of cost.
Members of our NGO's 125 nos of HIV/AIDS affected person and 230 nos of Thalassaemia affected.
Programme for HIV/AIDS :
Our NGO have tried to reduce HIV/AIDS related stigma, Panic and discrimination by practising what we preach. That is, functioning as a group of people living with HIV/AIDS and their friends (PLWHAF) that works in hand to hand to serve as a major force for social change.
Addressing service and research need with regard to social physical, psychological concerns of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).Working as a resource group and conducting training programmes on issues related to HIV/AIDS. The resource group involves (PLWHAF) actively as facilitators and positive speakers during various programme.
There is a requirement to arrange clinical management in different hospitals and drop-in centre for HIV/AIDS affected. and for proper counselling and home based care and prevention of parents to child transmission, service for rapid situation assessments, education programme, evaluation of Sex Terminated Infaction (STI) / HIV / AIDS intervention programmes.
Self-dependable of HIV/AIDS affected and their mental support.
Working through a mixed team of HIV/AIDS affected and non-HIV infected people, facilitating the creation of an enabling environment for children infected with and / or affected by HIV / AIDS through formation of a forum of infected / affected children. This will provide children an opportunity for complete psycho-social and physical development.
